Gracie Makes it Big Time

Yesterday (4-6-06)Grace got her first big break. She got to sing in the Spring Program at her school. I, of course, was a nervous wreck. I knew there were only two outcomes of this "big event", either she was going to scream and beg me to come and get her or she was going to be the "main event". The show starts with the Program Director opening and then the music teacher comes out, the lights dim and the music starts. (Her class was the first one to sing.) They start coming out and the little kids are scared. They step up on stage and the first one looks out and he's like "whoa, there are people out there" Well so does the the next kid and the next kid so basically we have a traffic jam. The kid's are refusing to get on stage. Then I spot my little Bug. She walks up on the stage and keeps walking...she's looking back at the traffic jam like "come on y'all. whats the deal." So everyone follows her lead. She wasn't the show stealer....(another little girl lifted her dress and captured everyone's attention and in seeing that, most all of the other little girls followed suit...a bit of a chain reation. Grace did not lift her dress) but she did sing and she did the hand motions and she was perfect...very comfortable on stage. I was so proud.

Burn Burn Burn.....

Grace apparently likes my new Johnny Cash CD's.
The other day we were listen to Ring of Fire in the car and when we arrived at our destination and I turned the car off I hear Grace singing...not unusual...but when I started to really listen to her this is what I heard:

"Burn Burn Burn...Ring Fire, Ring Fire."

She is too cute!

Gracie's New Accomplishment

Today my little Gracie Bug poo pooed in the potty. She is just under a week and a half shy of turning two years old. A major feat. Im sooo proud! Of course when she saw what was in the potty, she got scared but hopefully the M&M's she got for the accomplishment will take care of that.

See Ya Later Alligator

Gracie and I have gotten into the habit of saying "see ya later alligator" when we are leaving. (She says "See later algator").

Well the other night we were sitting in the floor talking about her animals. She has a little case of zoo animals. We were going through them and I would ask her what is this? and what does this animal say? I picked up the bear and I said "what is this?" Gracie says "Beer!" (She cant say Bear.) I say "what does a bear say?" She growls and roars and pretends her hands are claws. We go through the whole box and we get down to the alligator and I ask her "what is this animal?" and she says "Its a bye-bye"

Gracie Bug is scared of bugs

A few storys about My Grace's fear of bugs, critters and/or crawlies:

The other day Grace went to work with MiMi. Upon close inspection of the underneath workings of MiMi's desk Grace discovered a dead bug. Apparently (or at least from the way she reacted to this dead bug) it tried to get her and she ran screaming to MiMi and actually climbed up MiMi to get away from this bug. Now Im not saying she ran up to MiMi and asked to be picked up......She actually climbed up MiMi.

My second story is one that you would probably have to present to really get the full laugh but nevertheless it is still funny.

Grace was standing in the kitchen watching a fly buzz around. She was probably tattling on it or fussing at it. (she is pretty good at fussing these days) Anyways that fly was buzzing around landing on the table or the counters and it saw Grace's little head and it decided that would be a wonderful place to land (and throw up, cuz thats what flys do when they land). I was not present for this but MiMi tells me that poor little Gracie was so scared that she opened her mouth to scream and nada came out. Pure shock! She ran to MiMi with her mouth graping open and climbed up in the chair with her, mouth still open, still no noise.

Should I be Proud???

Here are a few things Gracie has done in the past month that I am unsure whether or not I should be proud.

A little background first:
Mrs. Keri is Gracie's sitter. (Keri, you're the best!) She has a little boy, Jace, that is about 3 or 4 weeks older than Grace.

Mrs. Keri and her family decorated so pretty for Christmas. Their house was lit up and it was just pretty. On the front door they put up wrapping paper. MiMi went to pick up Grace one day at lunch and notice the wrapping paper had torn. Mimi was holding Grace and she asks Grace "Did you do that? Did you tear Mrs. Keri's wrapping paper?" Mrs. Keri says "well Jace and Grace both did" and Mrs. Keri goes into the kitchen to get Grace's cup. While Mrs. Keri is gone Grace looks at MiMi and looks over at the wrapping paper. She reaches out and touches the wrapping paper and says "Jace".

The next thing my little "Bug" has done:

Grace has a cousin she calls "Buddy" or "Baben". Buddy and Gace (as he calls her)fight like cats and dogs. Sometimes they mesh well and sometimes they don't. The other day, they were in the front yard at MiMi and Pops house and Buddy was grabbing Gace's ankles and making her fall to the ground. Apparently Gace got sick and tired of this and the next time he tried to trip her, she reached down and SLAPPED his poor little head.

SHHHHHHHHHH!

MiMi wanted me to put this one in here. She and Pop think it is soooo funny........I don't.

Anyways, when Gracie is getting in trouble she'll tell me to S H H H H H!

Example:
Momma: "Gracie, you need to sit on you bottom in that chair"
Gracie: (holds finger to mouth) "Shhh!"
Momma: "Don't you Shush me"
Gracie: (holds finger to mouth) "shhhh!"

How To Speak "Grace"

As Grace is getting older she is learning new words and sometimes they don't come out right. Prime examples are as follows:

Butterfly - "Buttfly"
Belly Button - "Bell Butt" or just "Butt"
Her bottom is a "Bo"
When calling for the nearest adult, she says "Me-Mom" (a mixture of Mimi and Momma)
A "goose" is that really ticklish spot on her ribs or her knees or her armpits or her chin or her feet. (she is really ticklish)
and finally my favorite....... "Whoa whu" - Love you.

What about on your head, Pop?

Pop was sitting in the livingroom minding his own and Grace was sitting in the livingroom staring at Pop. But not just at Pop but at the hair on Pop's chest. She became so curious that she decided to crawl up in his lap to get a better look. Pop says to Gracie "Real men have hair on their chests!" To which Gracie giggled and replied by patting Pop's bald head.

Is that a burglar?

My little girl got into Mimi's thigh high panty hose. After trying them on her arms and legs and finding they don't fit, she decided to pull them over her head and run through the house. Momma got pictures!

What flower?

A huge mum sits on Mimi's front proch. While outside on Saturday morning, Grace decides to go "smell" the flowers. When I say smell that actually means pick handfuls. Well she reaches her little chubby hand over and grabs a flower and picks it. All the while I am saying "Don't pick Mimi's flowers". It's kinda too late by the time she "hears" me. So there she is with the little flower in her hand, I see it, she knows I can see it, but ever so slowly her little hand goes behind her back and she nonchalantly tosses the flower on the ground and walks away. Like it NEVER happened.

Breathe in.......and Grrrrrrrrrr!

Last night Pop fell asleep on the couch and when Pop sleeps, he snores. Well Grace was really curious about this sound coming out of Pop's mouth, so she stopped and watched him breathe in and snore, breathe in and snore. She watched him for about 2 or 3 minutes, got bored and moved on.

About 30 minutes later I asked Grace to come and take her medicine. She runs to the couch, jumps on top of Pop and lays there. I walk over to her to pick her up and she is looking at me with one eye squinty and the other closed. Then she starts making this sound.........breathe in and Grrrrrrrrrrrr! (growling like a bear), breathe in and Grrrrrrrrr!

She thought she would get out of taking her medicine if she was asleep and to prove she was asleep she decided to snore (Grrrrrrrrrrr).

the "DUNDER" face

The "dunder" face is the newest "thing" for Gracie. It was pasted down from her older cousin "Baben" (or to his despise she sometimes calls him "Baby"). The "dunder" face originated when "Baben" was scared of the sound of thunder. Mimi and I would make this face to make him laugh and then he started doing it ever time he heard "dunder". If you can picture this: the face is wide-eyed and mouth gaping open like someone has just shocked you. But it not just a simple face....... it is that face to the very maximum extreme.

Well Gracie has redubbed this the "dunder and poot" face as of last night when "Addy" pooted in front of Grace. But did she yell "Poot" at him? No.....of course not, she only saves that for momma, lucky me! Instead he got the "dunder" face..............twice. :)

Gacie & "Addy"

Grace and "Addy" were playing last night. I think it has become their ritual that after her bath its time for WWF wrestling with Addy. Addy had Grace in a "tickle hold" and she was laughing so hard I'm sure she wet herself. But it got me thinking that my favorite sound in the whole word is Grace's laugh but when you add that grown man's laugh too, it makes my smile even bigger!

That was a Frog!

No matter how embarrassing this one is it is too funny to not tell.

I was sitting in the chair in the livingroom the other night. Grace was in the floor. We were watching TV and being in the privacy of my home I tend to pass gas. (I know its hard to believe Andy but girls really do this. LOL) Well Grace pops her head around and looks at me and I say to her "what was that?" She says "poot" and I try to cover it up by saying "No that was a frog." She says "NO! Poot!"

"Dare's Gacie?"

This morning Grace was hiding in the bathroom behind the shower curtain. I went through the house saying "Where's Gracie?" avoiding the bathroom of course. Finally I gave up (seeing that this game never wears out with her) because I had to get ready to go to work. I go into the bathroom to put on my make-up, when I walk in I am greeted with giggles and I see 2 little feet under the shower curtain. Giggles grow into an all out belly laugh and then she goes silent...............Next I hear this: "dares gacie?" (For those of you who dont speak "Grace" that means "Wheres Gracie?") I say "I dont know where is Gracie?"

A little "invisible" head peeks out from around the shower curtain (she thinks I cant see her) and giggles more then she flys out of shower curtain and yells "BOO!!" then she giggles uncontrollably for a few seconds because I "fall down with fright" and we do it all over again.

In all her glory

Grace was born to a wonderful woman in April, 2004. She has been a starting point for life. Not only her own, but for her mother. Without Grace, no matter who you are, you have nothing. So to name your child Grace, is fitting when you know the rewards of having Grace.
